THE UNIQUE FEATURES

Not only textiles but materials with unique features.

The IRISUN fabrics are dyed in the solution of the acrylic fibre ensuring an excellent uv colour fastness and allowing duration and vividness prolonged in time. The Teflon/Scotchgard surface treatments assure an excellent repellency in case of rain or of stains such as food, drinks, greasy substances or similar.

The IRISUN fabrics make a shield against UV rays and are therefore very suitable for outdoor as well as indoor applications. A fabric you can rely on, resisting outdoor to bad weather exposure and indoor to small home accidents damaging the look of your furniture.

The IRISUN fabrics are certified OEKOTEX. This certification controls the respects of the limit values of contaminants according to the stricter European and American regulations.

Tensile Strength test

ISO 13934-1 Tensile properties of Acrylic Fiber. Determination of maximum force and elongation at maximum force using the strip method.

In principle there are two sets of test specimen: one in the warp direction and the other in the weft direction of the material. These are individually supported as defined in the standard by clamping of the specimen, slack mounting. The application is to pull to the pretension force, then the test is started at a continuous increasing extension applying a force longitudinally to a test piece of a specified length and width until the specimen fails. The results determination is from the pretension point for the maximum and breaking strength and elongation from the recorded force-elongation curve. The testing machine is usually of a single-column or dualcolumn dynamometer.

Tear Strength test

ISO 9073-4 Test methods for nonwovens, determination of tear resistance. ASTM D 5587-96 Tearing strength of fabrics by Trapezoid procedure.

This test is used to investigate the tear resistance of fabrics by the trapezoid specimen shape method. This method provides valuable information about a fabric’s ability to resist a continuous tear from sharp objects. In principle, the test specimen is cut in the shape of an isosceles trapezoid and then a small cut is made on one side of the trapezoid. This specimen is then supported as defined in the standard by clamping of the non-parallel sides of the trapezoid in the jaws of a tensile testing machine. The application is to pull at a continuous increasing extension (constant rate of Extension) the test piece in such a way that a tear propagates across the specimen width as the jaws move

Abrasion test (Martindale)

ISO 12947-2 Determination of the abrasion resistance of fabrics by the Martindale method – Determination of specimen breakdown.

It consist in a circular tube with a defined load under the action of an abrasive element normalized by a translation movement that forms a Lissajous figure. At the same time, the rack fitted with the test piece or abrasive element, according to the method used, rotates freely around its axis, perpendicular to the horizontal plane. The test tube is subjected to an abrasive action for a predetermined number of revolutions; the number of turns constituting the control interval depends on the type of product and the method of evaluation.

Water-Repellency Test (Spray test)

The evaluation of the test is visual appreciation of the surface of the fabric (number of absorption points on the surface). The repellency tends to decrease during washing, so a re-impregnation of a water repellent product is advised.

The method is applicable to all fabrics which may or may not have been given a water-resistant or water-repellent finish. It is not intended to predict the rain penetration resistance of fabrics, since it does not measure penetration of water through the fabric.

Accelerated Weathering Test (QUV)

Oleo and water repellency experiences

The IRISUN fabrics are dyed in the solution of the acrylic fibre ensuring an excellent UV colour fastness and allowing duration and vividness prolonged in time.

The Teflon/Scotchgard surface treatment assures an excellent repellency both in case of rain or of stain of various nature such as food, drinks, greasy substances or similar.
The Outdoor Duraclean Treatment protects the fabrics from aging slowing the effects of the natural passing of time. A fabric you can rely on, resisting to exposure to weather out-door or to small home accidents in-door damaging the look of your furniture and your awning.
